HELP US GROW !
Volunteering at the the HOPE Center umbrella agency usually means that you will either be volunteering at the Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Shelter Program, or at The Tenth Judicial District Children's Advocacy Center. The Shelter serves McMinn and Meigs counties and resides at an undisclosed location. Therefore, most of the volunteer work accomplished for this branch of the agency will be done at a separate location. For the Children's Advocacy Center however, most work is accomplished either within or outside of the agency. This branch of the HOPE Center covers the fourth judicial district of Tennessee, including: Bradley, Polk, McMinn, and Monroe Counties. The CAC operates out of two locations, Athens and Cleveland, and both allow for volunteer opportunities. Volunteering at the CAC can range from cleaning and painting to yard work and other outdoor activities. For further insight into volunteering with The H.O.P.E. Center Inc. examine the bullet points below.
Some of the tasks volunteers perform are:
- Grocery shopping for the shelter
- Organizing donation that are brought in
- Cleaning and other household duties
- Gardening and yard work
- Handing out brochures, flyers, other community-awareness items
- Other miscellaneous tasks
Volunteer sign up for the tasks that they feel comfortable doing and work on an as needed basis. There are times when we are extremely busy and need several people helping to get things done. Then there are times when the need is not so urgent.
